Build an efficient library for knowledge sharing.
In 2022, after receiving a grant, LOUD Design Group presented a pop-up library space constructed made from 95% of sample recovery waste. This display was recognised for its sustainability commitments and was awarded as a runner-up for the best sustainability exhibition on show.
During the investigation into how a building materails library of this kind would be utilised by both the manufacturer and the specifier, a series of pop-up libraries were established throughout the Geelong region in 2022- 2024 to evaluate the necessary functions needed.
Our research showed samples in the building industry contribute to the hidden waste stream. However, with effective waste management practices, innovative solutions, and adherence to regulations, the impact of this waste can be mitigated. By promoting recycling, reuse, and sustainable construction practices, the industry can move towards a more environmentally friendly and resource-efficient future.
It's time to do something different.
